Sixth Gear has expanded their business this year with the a few new marketing services along with the addition of a new staff member. We would like to introduce our new Account Manager and Copywriter, Kaela Adams, the Peggy to our Sterling Cooper for all you Mad Men fans.
We’ve taken a break this week from our normal blogging topics such as responsive design and branding techniques to bring to you a little background on Kaela. She grew up in the small state of Rhode Island with a passion for musical theater, unlike her big brother and founder of Sixth Gear, Corey, who always had a passion for business and traditional artistic mediums such as drawing and painting. Discovering her love of performing at a young age, Kaela pushed herself to be prominent in singing, acting, and dancing, but even with her love of theater she always had a passion for another creative entity, writing.
Kaela was accepted into Rhode Island College as a musical theater major with a minor in film. Throughout her years she performed actively but thrived in her creative writing and screenwriting classes. Continuing to write, Kaela left Rhode Island College to pursue her career on the stage and after performing for two years straight she decided to put away her tap shoes and sheet music to give screen and creative writing a go in the city where it all happens, Los Angeles.
Moving across the country to her new home in California, Kaela began her journey submerging herself in scripts and songwriting to expand her writing skills. Meanwhile in Jacksonville, FL, Corey had a different idea for his sister’s creative energy. Corey started Kaela off with various invoicing and copywriting work on her days off seeing if she could find a niche in the web design and marketing industry, where she indeed found a place where she could write creatively for existing clients and their brands. Forming taglines for ads and content for various websites Kaela saw that she could use her writing passion to become a copywriter. In December of 2013, she left her job as a bakery manager/struggling artist to work for Sixth Gear as a full time Account Manager and Copywriter. Working alongside her brother in their Jacksonville, FL office for the first few months Kaela began expanding Sixth Gears social media, blogging, and content for clients, and learning the strategy behind SEO and what it means to be a good copywriter in today’s digital age.
Kaela is now working out of her Los Angeles office where we ask her what she loves most about copywriting?
“It’s a different form of creative writing. I was used to writing scripts and stories but found that there was a way to use my form of writing skills to create taglines and blog entries for our clients. Each piece is different, I love being able to tap into the voice of a particular brand and write from that persona to a particular target audience like dialogue. To be able to write full time is anything a writer could ask for, and now I have the ability to do that while staying stimulated through different projects and account management.”
So what is next for Kaela and the Sixth Gear? An increase of inbound marketing. Kaela is the blogging go-to-girl for Sixth Gear and has been expanding both our clients’ and our own reach through blogging efforts. She will continue to lend her writing and organizational skills to the Sixth Gear name while pursing her screenwriting career and the publishing endeavor of her first book. Stay checked in with Sixth Gear to see what Kaela has coming out next and what brands she is writing for.
